I have a feeling that the majority of people are going to pass this recipe by because of the odd pairing of cinnamon and grapefruit but it is a match made in heaven. Cinnamon has a sweet earthy element that makes the grapefruit taste more sweet than tart. I tried this pairing on my grapefruit at breakfast and I no longer use sugar to top my grapefruit…just cinnamon!
I have also made this drink non-alcoholic because my digestive system does not metabolize alcohol well. I often feel left out during festivities because I cannot partake in alcoholic beverages but this drink makes me feel part of the celebration.
If you would like to add alcohol to this cocktail my husband recommends a shot of tequila. Or, if you would like to add a smoky element to the flavors a shot of mezcal. If you have another pairing that you have tried let me know in the comments!
