These vegan doritos were a happy accident that spawned from buying the unsalted tortilla chips from Trader Joe’s instead of the salted variety my husband prefers. This happened multiple times because the package design is similar between the salted and unsalted chips. I didn’t want the unsalted chips to go to waste so I thought I would experiment with ways to season them and thus vegan doritos were born.
I am unsure if unsalted tortilla chips are a staple at all grocery stores, but as I mentioned above, these were from Trader Joe’s. In fact, you can purchase all the ingredients in this recipe from Trader Joe’s.
These don’t last long in our house. Once I make a batch they are gone within a few days. So beware! These chips are addictive.
